Privacy Statement

Introduction

PLEASE DO NOT SEND EMAILS OR REGISTER ON THE SITE IF YOU DO NOT WANT THAT INFORMATION TO BE PROCESSED

BY US IN THE WAYS DESCRIBED BY THIS NOTICE.  BY PROVIDING US WITH INFORMATION ON THE SITE, YOU CONSENT

TO THIS TRANSFER OF PERSONAL DATA AS DESCRIBED IN THE POLICY.

Information that you provide us with is treated as part of your medical records and as such is held in

the strictest confidence. However, from time to time, it may be necessary for us to pass selected

information to third parties.
This document describes how and when we collect information, how this information is protected, and

under which circumstances it may be passed to a third party.  This document further describes the

measures we have implemented to protect your privacy.

Personal Information

We take customer confidentiality very seriously and none of the information you provide us with will

ever be divulged to a third party for marketing purposes or any other purpose which is not related to

fulfilling your order.
The only exception to this is if we are legally required to release information, for example, to

comply with a court order.

Prescription data

When you enter your prescription into our site, it is protected by a 128 bit symmetrical RSA-encrypted

connection.  We usually retain prescription data a period of 24 months from the date your prescription

was issued.  This is the standard validity period for a spectacle prescription.  After this period, or

following a request in writing from you, we may permanently delete your prescription data from our

records. Note that your pupillary distance (PD) measurement is not liable to change over time and will

therefore be retained for the duration of your account.

Retention of personal (non-prescription) data

We will retain personal non-prescription data, including your PD measurement, indefinitely.
This information will be deleted only following a request in writing from you.

Transfer of prescription data

To fulfil your order, it may be necessary for us to pass your prescription information to one or more

of our appointed laboratories and suppliers.  In any case, we transfer only the minimum information

necessary for completion of the order.  We require that all our suppliers delete any prescription

information supplied by us to them, immediately following completion of your order.

Billing information (i.e. payment card details)

When you enter your billing information into our site, it is protected by a 128 bit symmetrical

RSA-encrypted connection.
Your billing information will never be disclosed to any third party other than our Merchant Account

provider, Barclaycard Business Services.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of information that is stored on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser. 

On revisiting the website our server may recognise the cookie, giving us information about your last

visit.  Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but usually you can alter the settings of your

browser to prevent automatic acceptance.  If you choose not to receive cookies, you may experience

problems when using this site.

 

Links from the Website to other Websites

The Site may contain links to the websites of our business partners, advertisers or other third

parties.  We do not control the privacy policies or the terms of use of the websites reached through

the links from the Site.  These may differ from the policy and terms of use of the Site.  You will

need to determine if they are acceptable to you and your Company.  We accept no responsibility for the

content or the privacy practice employed by such other websites.

Amendments and access

In the event that your personal details become untrue, inaccurate or incomplete, or in any event, you

have the right to access your personal details and may rectify the same.
You confirm that you do not and will no consider any of the above as being a breach of any of your

rights under the Telecommunications (Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1998.

Legal obligations

We reserve the right to access and disclose individually identifiable information to comply with

applicable laws and lawful government request or requests by the police investigation suspected

illegal activities, to operate our systems properly or to protect ourselves or other Users.  We also

reserve the right to disclose individually identifiable information to third parties if a complaint

arises concerning your use of the Website, and that use is deemed by us inconsistent with the

Conditions.

Data security

When you input information or request services from us,  we offer appropriate physical, electronic and

managerial security measures in order that you may input information safely whilst effectively

preventing that information from being accessed by unauthorised persons.
In addition, we have strict security procedures covering the storage and disclosure of your

information in order to prevent unauthorised access.  To comply with the UK Data Protection Act 1998

and other regulations.
This means that we will ask for proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.

Changes to this privacy and cookie policy

We reserve the right to make changes to the Policy from time to time and reserve the right to do so. 

Any changes to the Policy will appear on this page, which you should check from time to time.  By

continuing to use the site you are deemed to accept changes to this Policy.
