How to order Single vision or Bifocal glasses

Ordering online: Here’s How 5 simple steps

1/ Once you have chosen your New frame Click the Buy/Personalise Button.
    This will take you to Lens types and Optional Extras page.
   
2/ I use my glasses for
    Click the Down Arrow and chose what you want to use your glasses for.

3/ Optional Extras 
    If you require any coatings, Thin lenses or tints Click the Down Arrowe and choose.

4/ Your Prescription
     This is where you simply key in the details of your prescription.
     Remembering to supply your PD (Pupil Distance) if you have that information.

5/ BUY
    Insert the quantity and ADD to Basket this will show you the breakdown in your 
    shopping basket given you the total price.
   

Single vision

(for Reading or Distance) lenses are our standard lens and are what is required by most of our patients. They are made to your prescription strength and either suit glasses for patients with 'short-sightedness' or 'long-sightedness'.
We recommend them to everyone who has not been specifically advised to get bifocal or other lenses. Single vision CR39 Plastic Hardcoat lenses are included in the price of your frame

 

Bifocals

Bifocal lenses can be ordered at an extra charge of only £35, and are for customers who require 2 strengths of lenses.
As standard we use D28 bifocal lenses. These are 28mm wide "D" shaped segments that are positioned vertically 3mm below the centre of the lens and horizontally are centred on your pupillary distance.
If you would like them to be positioned further up or down (higher or lower) then do state on your order.
 Just go through the normal order process, and choose 'bifocal lenses' from I use my glasses for.

 

Coating

This is an MAR Coating which will enhance the appearance of your lenses.

Reduced reflections of the surface of your lenses, you’ll see more clearly
They are better for driving at night.

• Improves the appearance of your glasses.
• Reduce glare from computer screens and car headlights.
• Gives clearer vision.

 

Thin Lenses

Beauty treatment for your eyes. Thinner lenses improve the appearance of your glasses, especially if you have a high prescription.

• Up to 40% thinner and lighter than standard lenses.
• Improves the appearance of your glasses.
• More comfortable to wear.
• Suitable for lightweight frames.

 

Tints / Polarised or Photochromic lenses

Tints
Can be used as a cosmetic advantage with a light tint or you can have a dark tint
to uses as sunglasses.

Polarised lenses
Unlike ordinary sunglasses, polarising lenses eliminate 99.9% of glare from horizontal surfaces such as roads, water and snow. Once you’ve seen the difference you won’t want to wear ordinary sunglasses again.

Photochromic lenses

Photochromic lenses are lenses that change their colour according to light conditions.
When exposed to sunlight they darken quickly to eliminate glare and to protect the eyes against UV. These lenses are generally nearly clear when it is dark.

Why wear photochromic lenses?
Many people wear these lenses and find them convenient, as they automatically darken in the sunshine and can avoid the need for you to carry prescription sunglasses. Modern photochromic materials react and fade quickly, suit most prescriptions and are more likely to be lightweight plastic than glass.
